June 23, 2008: Alyssa Alexandria Scores Another Writing Assignment

On a recommendation from ProSeries Alum Jon Bonnell, Aly has been hired to write a true life story.   This one centers around one man’s unique experiences in the AA program and how he survived some pretty harrowing encounters.

Aly landed the assignment after a 2 hour meeting. 

Great job, Aly.  And my hat is off to Jon once again.

June 20, 2008: Adite Chatterjee Hired to Write Bollywood Film

Adite Chatterjee has been hired by a director to Write a Bollywood Film.   This occurred just weeks after completing the ProSeries.

Claire Riley’s character driven comedy drama, called THE PERFECT FAMILY, has been optioned by an Indie director who has already raised the majority of the funding to do the picture.

Argentina’s Levy Films & Production has teamed with Endemol Argentina and Morocha Films to produce “Clipeado” (Clipped), a suspense satire on reality TV and YouTube extreme videos.

And it all happened because Aly agreed to write the script with Jose Levy.

May 9, 2008: Trish Groves TV Series Optioned!

We just got word that Trish Groves, Pro-Series 17 Alumnus based in Ireland, had her precinct TV drama series “Devil May Care” optioned by Irish production company Grand Pictures in January 2008. That’s less than a month after graduating from the Pro-Series in December 2007.

Her short script “Rapunzel - The Blonde Years” was selected for the Irish Film Board’s Virtual Cinema Scheme in March 2008. Rapunzel was shot on location in an Irish castle in April and is currently in post-production. It will premiere at the Darklight Film Festival in Dublin, Ireland at the end of June 2008, and has secured a sales agent and international distribution. Rapunzel was directed by Pro-Series Alumnus Fiona Ashe.

Meanwhile, another of Trish’s short scripts “Puppy Love” was shortlisted for the RTE/Filmbase Short Film Award in Dublin. There were 8 scripts shortlisted out of 220 entries, and the top 3 scripts will go into production for broadcast on Irish national television. Fiona Ashe will also direct “Puppy Love”. A panel interview on project feasibility on May 15th will decide which 3 projects will receive production funding.

Trish has just signed a contract with publishers Mercier Press in Cork for an historical biography titled “The Petticoat Rebellion”, which will be published in 2009. She’s writing the screenplay in parallel as a high concept period drama set in Victorian Ireland.

May 9, 2008: Evette Vargas gets Paid Writing Assignment

Evette has landed a paid writing assignment, co-writing an action film for director, Manu Boyer. 

The script is titled “Buffalo Run.”   Producers are Paul Rosenberg, Jeff Gordon, and Manu Boyer.

May 8, 2008: Kathryn Dahlstrom gets a Literary Agent!

Kathryn Dahlstrom entered into a signed agreement with one of the top agents in the Christian Booksellers Association.  He�ll represent a historical fiction novel she’s written as well as �Children of Angels,� her ProSeries script, as a book project. 

May 7, 2008: Jill Maxcy DVD to be Released May 13th.

Jill’s direct-to-DVD feature, ,”Nora’s Hair Salon 2″ hits the DVD streets on May 13. Its a comedy featuring Stacey Dash, Tatyana Ali, Mekhi Phifer and (yes) Bobby Brown.

Jill is currently in development on a high concept comedy with Sobini Films and prepping to direct an indie feature that Tim Swain is producing.   BTW, she’s also looking for a good agent.

Evette has sold a web series.  It has talent attached and is about to go into production.   No details, yet, but we’ll hear about as soon as she is free to share info on it.

Whitewater Films and “Akeelah and the Bee” producer Reactor Films have optioned Amy Morland and Vicki Rocco’s romantic comedy screenplay “The Transitional Guy.”
